Joyce Svoboda
Joyce Svoboda grew up on a ranch in Western South Dakota and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from South Dakota State University in 1976. After working for the USDA in the Commodity [Meat] Grading and Farmers Home Administration organizations and selling real estate for three years, she decided to go back to school.
Joyce completed a Masters Degree in Business Administration in 1992 at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota. Joyce then attended William Mitchell College of Law and earned a Juris Doctorate in Law in 1995.
After passing the South Dakota and the Minnesota State Bar Exams, Joyce worked in Rapid City, South Dakota where she practiced in the areas of real estate and contract law, and criminal defense. Joyce joined the Third Judicial District Public Defenders Office in 2003 and worked there until she started her own private practice in 2009.
Joyce has over ten years of criminal defense experience and also has experience in contract law, family law, drafting wills and advance directives, and all areas of real estate practice. Joyce is a member of the Minnesota and South Dakota State Bar Associations and listed in Biltmore Who’s Who List of Women.
